Meet Sylvain Estebe – Research Assistant at CHC

Sylvain joined CHC in July 2025 as a Research Assistant, bringing a strong interdisciplinary background in computational social and cognitive science. We’re pleased to have him on board and are excited about the expertise he brings to CHC and the EC2 project.

Originally from France, Sylvain moved to Aarhus in 2023 to pursue a Master’s degree in Cognitive Science. With a foundation in mathematics and computer science applied to the human and social sciences, Sylvain’s academic path has always been shaped by a deep interest in how we can model complex cognitive and social processes. At CHC, his work centers on the collaborative EC2 project, where he will help designing and implementing computational models of voting agents operating under uncertainty – part of a broader effort to simulate and better understand democratic systems.

Before joining CHC, Sylvain worked as a data science intern at Norlys. Now an integral part of the EC2 project team, he values the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a truly interdisciplinary setting, and is particularly enthusiastic about being part of CHC’s welcoming and collaborative environment.

Whether it’s through Python or Java programming, Bayesian modelling, agent-based simulations, or even theoretical work in graph theory and predictive coding, Sylvain brings a broad technical skillset to the table. He’s also the go-to person for colleagues seeking help in areas ranging from machine learning and data analysis to sound engineering and music production.

We’re delighted to have Sylvain as part of the CHC team and look forward to his continued contributions to the EC2 project and beyond.
