Meet Yevhen Kostiuk – New Postdoctoral Researcher at CHC
Yevhen joined CHC in September 2025 as a Postdoctoral Researcher, becoming part of the Aarhus NLP group. With a strong background in machine learning and natural language processing he brings valuable expertise to CHC’s ongoing work on large language models and their adaptation to Danish language and culture.
Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, Yevhen has spent the past four years living and working across the globe - including in Mexico, the UK, and Denmark. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Statistics, and has since built a career as a machine learning engineer, working at the intersection of computational research and language technology. Prior to joining CHC, Yevhen held a postdoctoral position at the University of Dundee in Scotland, where he worked at ARG-tech – a research centre specialising in argument technology.
At CHC, Yevhen is currently working on the cultural alignment of large language models. His research focuses on improving models’ ability to understand and reflect Danish norms, values, and linguistic nuances - with the broader goal of making these technologies more locally relevant and socially aware.
Yevhen is particularly looking forward to being part of the CHC community, which he describes as both welcoming and intellectually engaging. He values the opportunity to exchange ideas and collaborate with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds, and appreciates the supportive environment that encourages open dialogue and shared learning.
Beyond his core research, Yevhen is always happy to collaborate and support colleagues on NLP-related tasks, from data preprocessing and experimental design to model training and evaluation. His technical skillset is matched by a collaborative mindset, and he values the open, interdisciplinary environment that defines CHC.
We’re very delighted to welcome Yevhen to the CHC team and look forward to his contributions to the Aarhus NLP group.
