Welcome Mia Jacobsen – New Research Assistant
We are very happy to welcome Mia Jacobsen (back) to our team as a Research Assistant. As many of you already know, Mia is a familiar face at CHC, having worked with us for the last year as a junior developer. We are excited to have her continue her journey with us now in full-time capacity.
Officially Mia joined CHC as a Research Assistant in September. Her work will be closely linked with Machine Learning Team Leader Ross on a range of research projects from external collaborators. This role is particularly important given the increasing demand and volume of work in our field.
Mia graduated this summer with a master’s degree in Cognitive Science. In her thesis, she explored the motivations behind fanfiction writing by analyzing a large corpus of fanfiction based on fantasy novels. During her studies, she dedicated a year to teaching programming in Python and was also an active member of the Fabula-NET research group, a project situated within CHC.
Mia's creativity also shines through in her personal life, where she enjoys hobbies such as playing piano and electric bass guitar, crocheting, knitting, and caring for her many houseplants. Furthermore, her passion for programming is expressed through her volunteer work at Coding Pirates GameDev, where she helps children learn how to design and program video games.
We are thrilled to have Mia – a familiar face – continue as a part of the CHC team, and we look forward to the contributions she will make in her new role. Welcome, Mia, to your position as Research Assistant.
